Na tomto mieste si bližšie popíšeme ako nastaviť preset na digitech GNX 3000, keď chceme cez Expression pedál, pomocou funkcie EXPRESSION ASSIGN ovládať dve rôzne stupnice v dvoch rôznych tóninách. Najskôr si pripomenieme parametre pre nastavenie a ovládanie IPS (inteligentný harmonist pitch – harmonizér) z nášho manuálu (časť 3 efekty):

In this place, we will describe in more detail how to set a preset on the GNX 3000 digits, when we want to control two different scales in two different keys via the Expression pedal, using the EXPRESSION ASSIGN function. First, let's recall the parameters for setting and controlling the IPS (intelligent harmonist pitch) from our manual (section 3 effects):

Intelligent Pitch Shifting (IPS)

Intelligent Pitch Shifting vytvorí kópiu prichádzajúceho signálu a potom zmení výšku skopírovanej noty na diatonicky správny interval podľa špecifikácie parametra Amount. Inteligentný Pitch Shifter zostrí alebo zahustí transponovanú výšku tónu, aby sa zachoval interval špecifikovaný vo vybranej tónine a aby sa vytvorila skutočná harmonická výška tónu.

Intelligent Pitch Shifting creates a copy of the incoming signal and then changes the pitch of the copied note to the diatonically correct interval as specified by the Amount parameter. The intelligent Pitch Shifter sharpens or thickens the transposed pitch to maintain the interval specified in the selected key and to produce the true harmonic pitch.

Tlačidlo STATUS vyberá, ON/OFF Intelligent Pitch Shifting.

Ovládač 1 – vyberá jednu z možností: Whammy (WHAMMY), Intelligent Pitch Shifting (IPS), Detuner (DETUNE), Pitch Shift (PITCH) alebo Talker (Talker 1-5).

Parameter 1 – Ovládač 2 vyberá množstvo alebo rozsah harmonických pre Inteligentný Pitch Shifter. Možnosti rozsahu zahŕňajú:

The STATUS button selects ON/OFF Intelligent Pitch Shifting.
Control 1 - selects one of the options: Whammy (WHAMMY), Intelligent Pitch Shifting (IPS), Detuner (DETUNE), Pitch Shift (PITCH) or Talker (Talker 1-5).
Parameter 1 - Control 2 selects the amount or range of harmonics for the Intelligent Pitch Shifter. Range options include:

Parameter 2 – Ovládač 3 vyberá mierku, ktorú bude IPS používať. Možnosti mierky zahŕňajú: durová – ionska (MAJOR), molová – aiolska (MINOR), Dorska mol – s veľkou sextou (6 DORIAN), Mixolydická s malou septimou (7b MIXoLYDn), Lydická so zväčšenou kvartou 4# (LYDIAN), Harmonicka mol s veľkou septimou 7 (HARMINOR).

Parameter 3 – Ovládač 4 – vyberá hudobný kľúč – stupnicu, ktorý IPS používa. Register volieb: E – F – Gb – G – Ab – A – Bb – B – C -Db – D – Eb.

Ovládač 5 – hlasitosť IPS – upravuje úroveň IPS (IPS LEVL) všetkých efektov zmeny tónov v tomto module. Registre sa pohybujú od 0 do 99.

Parameter 2 - Control 3 selects the scale that the IPS will use. Scale options include: Major - Ionic (MAJOR), Minor - Aiolian (MINOR), Doric Minor - with major sixth (6 DORIAN), Mixolydian with minor seventh (7b MIXoLYDn), Lydian with augmented fourth 4# (LYDIAN), Harmonic minor with major seventh 7 (HARMINOR).
Parameter 3 - Control 4 - selects the musical key - scale that IPS uses. Register of choices: E - F - Gb - G - Ab - A - Bb - B - C - Db - D - Eb.
Control 5 - IPS volume - adjusts the IPS level (IPS LEVL) of all tone change effects in this module. Registers range from 0 to 99.

Ovládanie dvoch rôznych stupníc (SCALE)  v dvoch rôznych tóninách (KEY)

Chceme, aby výsledný preset ovládal dve rôzne stupnice v dvoch rôznych tóninách. Ide o využitie polohy Expression pedálu a podľa nej vyvolanie príslušných parametrov a ich realizácia vo výslednom zvuku (presete), chceme toto:

1/ Keď je expression pedál v MAX (špička dole) chceme aby bola aplikovaná stupnica C diatonicka dur (ionska) – základný tón „C“ = MAJOR. ( c – d – e – f – g – a – h )

2/ Keď je expression pedál v MIN (špička hore) chceme aby bola aplikovaná stupnica A harmonicka mol – základný tón „A“ = HARMINOR. ( A – H – c – d – e – f – gis )

3/ Chceme, aby tento dvojhlas bol realizovaný v polohe o terciu nahor = 3rd UP.

Control of two different scales (SCALE) in two different keys (KEY)

We want the resulting preset to control two different scales in two different keys. It is about using the position of the Expression pedal and, according to it, calling up the relevant parameters and implementing them in the resulting sound (preset), we want this:
1/ When the expression pedal is at MAX (tip down), we want the C diatonic major (ionic) scale to be applied - basic tone "C" = MAJOR. ( c - d - e - f - g - a - h )
2/ When the expression pedal is in MIN (peak up) we want the A harmonic minor scale to be applied - the basic note "A" = HARMINOR. (A-H-c-d-e-f-gis)
3/ We want this double voice to be realized in the position of a third up = 3rd UP.

The table - Setting two scales in one preset via the EXP pedal schematically shows the steps, controls and their settings to achieve the desired goal - input.

Postup nastaveni harmonizéra (IPS):

1/ Tlačidlami šípka dole / hore sa postupne preklikajte na pozíciu WHAMMY/IPS/TALK (LED bude svietiť na červeno).

2/ Stavovým tlačidlom (STATUS ON/OFF) nastavte na ON.

3/ Ovládačom 1 nastavte parameter TYPE na IPS (inteligent pitch shifter).

4/ Ovládačom 2 nastavte parameter 1 (SHIFT) na 3rd UP.

5/ Ovládačom 3 nastavte parameter SCALE ma MAJOR.

6/ Ovládačom 4 nastavte parameter KEY na „C„.

7/ Ovládačom 5 nastavte úroveň (množstvo) efektu IPS v celkovom zvuku.

Procedure for setting the harmonizer (IPS):
1/ Use the down / up arrow keys to click on the WHAMMY/IPS/TALK position (the LED will light up red).
2/ Use the status button (STATUS ON/OFF) to set it to ON.
3/ Use control 1 to set the TYPE parameter to IPS (intelligent pitch shifter).
4/ Use controller 2 to set parameter 1 (SHIFT) to 3rd UP.
5/ Set the SCALE and MAJOR parameters with knob 3.
6/ Use control 4 to set the KEY parameter to "C".
7/ Use knob 5 to adjust the level (amount) of the IPS effect in the overall sound.

Do tohto momentu ide o nastavenie klasického harmonizéra pre preset v jednej stupnici a jednej tónine. Avšak my chceme, aby sa Expression pedálom mohli ovládať (prepínať dve stupnice = SCALE a zároveň meniť ich tóniny = KEY). Postupujeme ďalej na nastavenia Expression Assign.

Up to this moment, it is a classic harmonizer setting for a preset in one scale and one key. However, we want them to be able to be controlled with the Expression pedal (switch two scales = SCALE and at the same time change their keys = KEY). We proceed to the Expression Assign settings.

Details of parameter setting options are described in the table below - we have set the highlighted items:

Nastavenia Expression Assign:

1/ Tlačidlami šípka dole / hore sa postupne preklikajte na pozíciu Expression Asign (LED bude svietiť na červeno).

2/ Stavovým tlačidlom (STATUS ON/OFF) nastavte na EXP PDL 1.

3/ Ovládačom 1 nastavte parameter SCALE parameter.

4/ Ovládačom 2 – MIN hodnota, nastavte na HARMINOR (harmonická mol).

5/ Ovládačom 3 – MAX hodnota nastavte na MAJOR (diatonický dur = ionska).

Expression Assign settings:
1/ Use the down / up arrow keys to click successively on the Expression Assign position (the LED will light up red).
2/ Use the status button (STATUS ON/OFF) to set to EXP PDL 1.
3/ Set the SCALE parameter with controller 1.
4/ With control 2 - MIN value, set to HARMINOR (harmonic minor).
5/ Use knob 3 - MAX to set the value to MAJOR (diatonic major = Ionian).

Celý postup zopakujte ale pre nastavenie EXP PDL 2:

1/ Tlačidlami šípka dole / hore sa postupne preklikajte na pozíciu Expression Asign (LED bude svietiť na červeno). Alebo, ak ste v Expression Assign, tak stačí preklikať stavové tlačidlo na EXP PLD 2 (rovnako ako bod 2/).

2/ Stavovým tlačidlom (STATUS ON/OFF) nastavte na EXP PDL 2.

3/ Ovládačom 1 nastavte parameter na KEY.

4/ Ovládačom 2 MIN hodnota nastavte na „A“ (základný – basic tón „A“).

5/ Ovládačom 3 nastavte parameter MAX hodnota na „C“ (základný – basic tón „C“).

6/ Uložte takto nastavený PRESET s polohou Expression Pedálu v MAX (špička dole, päta hore).

Repeat the entire procedure but for setting EXP PDL 2:
1/ Use the down / up arrow keys to click successively on the Expression Assign position (the LED will light up red). Or, if you're in Expression Assign, just click the status button on EXP PLD 2 (same as point 2/).
2/ Use the status button (STATUS ON/OFF) to set to EXP PDL 2.
3/ Use controller 1 to set the parameter to KEY.
4/ Set the 2 MIN value to "A" (basic tone "A").
5/ Use knob 3 to set the MAX value parameter to "C" (basic tone "C").
6/ Save the PRESET set in this way with the position of the Expression Pedal in MAX (toe down, heel up).

Čo sa bude diať – Prepnite sa do tohto PRESETU z nejakej inej pozície a zahrajte budete počuť pri sólo hre jednotlivých tónov dvojhlasy zodpovedajúce vrchnej tercii v C dur stupnici. Následne, keď presuniete Expression Pedál do polony MIN budete počuť pri sólo hre jednotlivých tónov dvojhlasy zodpovedajúce vrchnej tercii v A harmonickej mol stupnici. Tento preset je určený na hru jednotlivých tónov ku ktorým je vytváraná vrchná tercia a teda nie je vhodný na brnkanie súčasne dvoch a viac tónov, kde by sa harmonizér snažil spracovať takýto viachlasný signál z čoho by vyšiel nezmysel a nezrozumiteľnosť.

What will happen - Switch to this PRESET from some other position and play, you will hear the double voices corresponding to the upper third of the C major scale during the solo play of individual notes. Subsequently, when you move the Expression Pedal to the MIN half, you will hear the two voices corresponding to the upper third of the A harmonic minor scale during the solo playing of individual notes. This preset is intended for the playing of individual tones to which the upper third is created and is therefore not suitable for strumming two or more tones at the same time, where the harmonizer would try to process such a polyphonic signal, which would result in nonsense and incomprehensibility.

As we are already setting the parameters of the scales, let's finally clarify something about those that can be set on the GNX3000: major (MAJOR) and minor (MINOR) diatonic, Dorian (DORIAN), Lydian (LYDIAN), Mixolydian (MIXOLYDIAN) and harmonic minor(HARMINOR). In the table below you can see the designation and the internal structure of these scales (in red on the left):

Diatonická dur = MAJOR (ionska, ionsky modus), intervalový vzorec: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7

Šípka vpravo / vľavo označuje, že tieto stupnice sú paralelné (majú rovnaké tóny ale iný základný tón).

(have the same notes but a different fundamental tone).

Tento preset využívam vo viacerích skladbách, kde mám sólo v C dur a následne (alebo hneď na to) solo v A harmonickej mol (napr. na akordy Ami – E7). praktický rozdiel je v tónoch „g“ a „gis“.

I use this preset in several compositions where I have a solo in C major and then (or right after that) a solo in A harmonic minor (e.g. for chords Ami - E7). the practical difference is in the tones "g" and "gis"
